Meets new sustainability requirements with less financial costs
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that they have selected the final design for new air traffic control towers at municipal airports. This design will allow for easy height adjustments to accommodate each airport’s traffic needs. It will also incorporate a number of sustainability technologies to reduce building costs, including renewable mass timber, ground source heating and cooling, and thermally efficient material for its façade.
“These new air traffic control towers will mean that smaller airports can handle more flights, more sustainably and more affordably,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “I look forward to seeing this design go from the drawing board to construction sites across the country, helping our nation’s airports support more travelers, grow their local economies, and prepare for the future of low-carbon aviation.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Buttigieg as he works to improve the carbon footprint of air traffic control towers.
- For discernment for U.S. officials as they determine the impact of the construction of airport towers.
- For the president and his advisers as they consider individuals to nominate as administrator of the FAA.
